Rules summary
Objective
You will be placing cards in a 5x5 grid.
Each row and column will be compared against your competitors. For each row and column, the player with the best hand will score 1 or 2 points.
Method
On your turn, either:
- Place the face-up card on your grid, then flip another 'top' card, or
- Select another 'top' card, causing it to flip, then place it on your grid
Cards can only be placed if they are beside another card (up/down, left/right or touching a corner).
The front face of the card will always be one of the colours and numbers shown on the back of the card. This will help you try to get a desired card.
Scoring
The better combination of cards on each row/column will beat competitors combinations.
Cards can be IN ANY ORDER.
Combinations from Best to Worst are:
Combination | Example | Example | Score |
---|---|---|---|
Straight Flush | 1 2 3 4 5 | 5 Consecutive numbers (in any order) all in the same colour | 2 |
5 of a Kind | 4 4 4 4 4 | 5 of the same number (any colours) | 2 |
4 of a Kind | 4 4 4 4 | 4 of the same number (any colours) | 1 |
Full House | 4 4 4 7 7 | 3 of a Kind and a Pair (any order, any colours) | 1 |
Straight | 1 2 3 4 5 | 5 Consecutive Numbers (in any order) | 1 |
Flush | 4 7 9 2 3 | All cards same colour (any numbers) | 1 |
3 of a Kind | 4 4 4 | 3 of the same number (any colours) | 1 |
2 Pairs | 4 4 7 7 | 2 pairs of cards, each with the same number (any colours) | 1 |
Cocktail | 4 7 9 2 2 | 5 different colours (any numbers) | 1 |
1 Pair | 4 4 | 2 cards with the same number (any colours) | 1 |
Strategy
- Look at the back of cards to find ones that will help your combinations
- Take cards that your opponent wants
- If an opponent's row/column is unbeatable, use that row/column as a 'trash can' for your worthless cards
