Report history
I've just tried looking at this - but the game is still ongoing and the in-game reply seems to not be working for some reason, so I can't see what the sequence of actions precisely was that triggered the end of the game. The log gives no cause for concern though - it seems the Green player on their turn moved some armies, triggering a couple of attacks in the process (by surrounding barbarian villages) that drained all the remaining barbarian VP from the board thus triggering the end of the game.
Are you saying that one of the attacks happened when the village was not surrounded? If so (it seems unlikely to me given the number of games played with no bug reports around this - but I don't want to say it's impossible!), I'm happy to look into it, but it looks like I can't see what happened until the game has actually been finished.
I see the game has now finished and I was able to play through a full reply. I see nothing wrong with how the end of the game was triggered - so I am marking this as "not a bug", however feel free to still comment if you think I've missed something, I can change the status back if needed.
I agree the end of the game came rather suddenly, especially from your point of view - but it was all perfectly legitimate. Your opponent played their third War Elephants card, this activating all 3 of them one after the other. Since each of these cards allows ALL the player's armies (3 in this case) to be moved (each up to 2 spaces) if the player wants, 3 activations of these in a row can change the situation on the map quite a bit. If you play through the replay you will see that at various points, the remaining barbarian villages with VP on them were surrounded, and therefore resolved - all according to the rules, which I note says, in relation to attacking barbarian villages: "This attack happens
immediately (the round pauses until the attack is resolved) when both of the the following conditions are met:" (before listing the 2 conditions which I assume you know). So everything happened according to the rules, as far as I can see.
I guess this was a turn-based game and, coming back to the table after your opponent's move, you saw barbarian villages depleted at a point when they were no longer surrounded. But this was only because your opponent, who had moves to spare, chose to move some of their armies away from their surrounding spots after the villages were depleted. If you replay each step carefully, you will see that no VP were claimed except at a point when the village had just been surrounded.
I hope this helps you to understand - feel free to comment again to ask me anything.
Thanks for playing!
