When two players have the same number of coins at the end of the game, the player who scored more points on the last round is considered to beat the player who scored fewer points.
In this game, the instant win card (least frequent > most frequent) happened, and a player won. The other two players had 2 coins each at the time. At the end of the game scoreboard, both players were listed as having 0 coins in the last round. It's unclear to me whether the last round should have been the round in which the instant win card was played or the round before, but in neither case did both players have 0 coins. (Also worth noting - nobody was awarded coins that round, which is probably intentional?).
When the instant win card is successfully played, the game should use the tiebreaker (either from the current round or the previous) rather than randomly assigning placement. -

For me, when someone instant win, then all others having 0 will tie them second (that's what happened to you, this is not random placement).
